This thread discusses the Content article: Peter De Savary vows to help Grenada lure airline to replace carrier LIAT

I hope that when a new airline takes over, that the flights between Barbados and Carriacou will be restored. Since two year ago there are no flights between Barbados and Carriacou anymore, which makes it pretty difficult to get to Cou.

Re:Peter De Savary vows to help Grenada lure airline to replace carrier LIAT 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago
St. Georges, Grenada, Dec 23 (Prensa Latina) Grenada s Prime Minister, Keith Mitchell said LIAT airlines has left this Caribbean nation no choice but to explore alternate solutions for its air travel, reported Caribbean Net News.

A one-day strike of 24 crew attendants this week caused LIAT to cancel 35 of its 120 regional flights, according to the airline s chief executive officer Mark Darby. Although the crew members were back to work the following day, the action caused losses for about 40 thousand US dollars.

Commenting on the industrial action, the Grenadian leader said he finds it hard to see why a specific issue with one government should be allowed to affect the economies of nearly all the countries throughout the region.

Mitchell said LIAT must recognise that it is a key partner in the region's tourism industry and must therefore improve on the way it delivers service.

"If we are serious about regional integration and servicing the needs of our people other alternatives must be considered which will help us realize our goals," Mitchell said.

Grenada s Prime Minister noted that LIAT'S poor service was causing major disruption in the lives of person's right across the Caribbean.
