They were woken up one morning by a Kayak friend.
They had seen a leatherback turtle on Paradise Beach, laying eggs.
Knowing this is an experience no tourist wants to miss, they knocked on the door of the apartment to wake the tourists up.
What an experience, seeing this huge turtle on the beach.
You will see that the turtle has been tied, allowing for some extra time to view.
You might be a bit surprised about the way the turtle is handled.
It is worth knowing that the animal was not hurt at all.
While they are on the beach for the egg laying, these turtles are in a trance.
They are absolutely not aware of what goes on around them.
Another interesting fact : the turtles seem to weep when on land.
This is a natural protection for the eyes.
The tears keep the eyes moist during the time out of the water, and keep the sand out.
