Beautiful place - Bad management
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 01/20/08
Upon arrival Paradise Inn truely seemed a Paradise. Helaas after a couple of days we realized it did not live up to the name. The service was extremely bad. We were not expexting a 5* hotel service, but indeed, as written before, the staff was quite rude and gave the idea that guests were an unwelcome nuisance. It seemed every request or bar order required a big effort from the staff.
Hardly ever was there a smile when being served. Paradise Inn has a menu card but hardly any of the items are available. "I don't know why they still have this menu card, management changed and we only have one or two things on the menu...."
Anyways, without the extreem unpolite and serviceless treatment, the location is wonderfull and the rooms were cleaned every day. Next door, at a bar called Hardwood, there is a very motherly lady called Joy who will serve you with a smile.

..... at night time when the staff abandoned the hotel and left it completely unattended. There were no gates or security to stop people from walking through the hotel complex which was the case constantly during the day, and on the night before we left we were rudely awoken by someone trying to force open our patio door, then again much later at 2am in the morning. Thankfully my shouts seemed to frighten them away but the experience was extremely unpleasant. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for this reason......
No security at night time, no phone in room for emergencies.
Would I recommend this hotel to my best friend?
no way!
I do not recommend this hotel for:
People with disabilities, Older travelers, Families with young children, Families with teenagers

Here someone else talking about the rooms ....
It lacks a little TLC like mending the broken towel rails and re-painting the walls.
We wondered how long it would last if someone doesn't really take it on to do it up.
And about unfair price quoting....
(though don't forget to add 18% combined govt and service tax to the price quoted!) .
And about the food
For eating choices I would go elsewhere - there are other places to eat a short walk away.
Food at the Paradise was unexciting and always took ages to appear (eg a 1 hr wait for egg, toast and a few strips of bacon).

It is important to notice the dates of comments on these sites.

There are positive comments as well, and you will notice that the vast majority of the positive experiences were posted before management was changed.
In the past this hotel was run by Tanki , later on it was managed by Elin and Joe.
Those were the years before Peter Adams interfered with the hotel and the absence of management started.
From end 2005 onwards the comments are getting more negative.

That even for a rundown hotel with little amenities it is possible to have happy guests shows the following comment which was left on TripAdvisor.
It was written by guests who arrived after new management had started.
During their stay I (The webmaster of this site) was present in the Paradise Inn, on request of the new owner.
By organising some trips and creating a loose holiday atmosphere all guests were happy, despite the bad service and broken beds....

......My wife and I have recently enjoyed a weeks holiday at Paradise Inn, Paradise beach (Listetre), Carriacou.

Paradise Inn, although basic is a very relaxing hotel comprising six rooms set directly on a magnificent beach in a true Caribbean location. The staff are very pleasant and helpful and mixing with the charming local people is a must. The selection of food is limited with mainly a choice of chicken or fish with very cheap lobster readily available to order. Having only six rooms all the guests of various nationalities gelled well together making the holiday a very sociable experience with trips arranged Mr Kess ....(Thats me, the webmaster).... to various exotic off islands by water taxi by. There was no entertainment but after dinner our evenings were spent sitting on the beach chatting, drinking and having a wonderful time with the other guests. Although we both fully enjoyed our stay at Paradise Inn my wife missed the luxury of warm and free flowing water in the shower and the lack of luxury bed linen and towels but the location of the hotel strongly made up for that. I enjoyed the simplicity of the magical location. We would strongly recommend Paradise Inn to all those seeking a true get away from it all, laid back Caribbean holiday. We shall certainly return very soon.....
